Description

Treat yourself with this delightful chocolate mousse! Simple to make and featuring semi-sweet chocolate, heavy whipping cream, and a hint of espresso, this recipe is ideal for dessert enthusiasts looking for an easy homemade indulgence!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/4 + 3/4 cups heavy whipping cream, divided
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp espresso powder
  • Fresh Berries
  • Chocolate Shavings
  • cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, heat 3/4 cup of heavy whipping cream until it's just below boiling, approximately 30-45 seconds.
  2. Pour the hot heavy cream over the chocolate chips in a large bowl. Cover with a towel and let it sit for 5-7 minutes. Stir with a whisk or rubber spatula until the chocolate melts completely, then allow it to cool for 15-20 minutes, occasionally stirring.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk 1 1/4 cups of heavy whipping cream with a hand mixer or stand mixer until soft peaks form.
  4. Add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and espresso powder to the whipped cream. Continue whisking until stiff peaks form.
  5. Set aside 1/2 cup of the whipped cream for later, then gently fold the rest into the chocolate mixture until fully combined without losing airiness.
  6. Divide the mousse into 6 dishes of your choice. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 3-4 hours before serving.
  7. When ready to serve, top with reserved whipped cream and fresh berries. Optionally dust with cocoa powder or chocolate shavings made from a chocolate bar using a grater or vegetable peeler.
  8. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.

Notes

For an extra touch, use high-quality chocolate chips for a richer flavor.
You can make this mousse a day in advance and keep it refrigerated until ready to serve.
Feel free to add different toppings such as crushed nuts or other fruits to customize your dessert.
