- 9 cups rice chex cereal
- 1 cup (182 g / 6 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup (129 g) creamy peanut butter
- ¼ cup (½ stick / 57 g) unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups (187.5 g) confectioners' sugar
- 1 ½ cups easter candies, pastel m&m's, mini cadbury eggs, whoppers robin eggs malted milk balls, reese's pieces eggs, or a mix; chop larger candies if needed
Instructions
- Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Pour the rice chex cereal into a very large mixing bowl and set aside.
- In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave in 20 to 30 second increments, stirring well until smooth. This should take 60 to 90 seconds.
- Stir in the vanilla extract to the mixture.
- Pour the chocolate-peanut butter mixture over the cereal and fold gently with a rubber spatula until coated, being careful not to crush the cereal.
- Transfer the coated cereal to a large sealable plastic bag and add the confectioners’ sugar. Seal the bag and shake until fully coated.
- Spread the mixture onto the lined baking sheet and let it set for about 10 to 15 minutes until mostly firm.
- Once set, break apart any large clusters gently and stir in the Easter candies.
- Allow the puppy chow to fully cool before transferring to an airtight container for storage.
