Description

These homemade Graham Crackers boast an irresistible flavor, simple prep, and wholesome ingredients. Perfect for snacking or as a base for desserts!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ¼ cups (160 g) whole wheat flour
  • ¾ cup (95 g) all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup (65 g) light brown sugar, packed
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4 tablespoons (57 g) unsalted butter, cold, cubed
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, or canola oil
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Add cold, cubed butter, and use a pastry cutter or fingertips to work it into the flour mixture until it looks like coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in oil, honey, molasses, vanilla, and 3 tablespoons of milk. Mix until a dough forms, adding more milk if necessary until it holds together.
  4. Form the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 325°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough very thin, about ⅛ inch thick.
  7. Cut into squares or rectangles, approximately 2 ½ × 2 ½ inches. Transfer to prepared baking sheets.
  8. Prick each cracker several times with a fork to prevent bubbles during baking.
  9. Sprinkle lightly with a cinnamon-sugar mixture if desired.
  10. Bake for 10 to 14 minutes until lightly golden and dry. Rotate pans halfway through for even baking.
  11. Let crackers cool completely on a wire rack to crisp further.
  12. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or crush for homemade crumbs.

Notes

Chilling the dough helps to maintain the shape while baking.
Feel free to adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey.
These crackers can be used in various desserts or snacking options.
