Description

These Grandma’s Oatmeal Raisin Cookies are a delightful treat made with wholesome oats and sweet raisins. Perfect for bringing a touch of homemade comfort to your day, this recipe is simple and yields irresistibly flavorful cookies that everyone will love!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. Stir in the oats and set aside.
  2. In a larger bowl, blend the softened butter with the brown sugar and granulated sugar until nicely mixed.
  3. Incorporate the egg and vanilla into the butter mixture, mixing until well combined and scraping the sides of the bowl as necessary.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the raisins gently.
  5. Wrap the dough and chill it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  7. After chilling, scoop 1 1/2 tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, ensuring there's space for the cookies to spread.
  8. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For chewier cookies, do not overbake them and let them cool completely before storing.
You can substitute chocolate chips for raisins if you prefer a different flavor.
Ensure the butter is softened at room temperature for easier mixing.
